Reading a dog food label — the honest way

Not all 'premium' bags are equal. Here's what we look for on every food we stock.

Reading a dog food label — the honest way

'Premium' and 'natural' aren't regulated words. The ingredient list is where the truth lives.

Look for a named protein first: 'chicken', 'lamb', 'fish' — not 'meat meal' or 'animal by-product'.

Whole grains or named vegetables in the top five is a good sign. A wall of unnamed fillers is not.

Skip artificial colours. Your dog does not care whether their kibble is red, brown or green.

Match the food to life-stage. Puppy, adult and senior formulas exist because their nutritional needs really are different.
